Moving Company Reviews: Larry’s Moving & Storage Louisville, KY

Small home in Austria

Larry’s Moving & Storage’s (“Larry’s”) Capabilities: Larry’s is a local, family owned and operated moving and storage company. Larry’s Moving & Storage has existed since 1935!! http://larrysmovers.com/Home_Page.html

Larry’s is licensed with the State of Kentucky to make moves within Kentucky.  According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Larry’s is not currently licensed to perform interstate moves. See the following link.  http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/hhg/SearchResults.asp?lan=EN&search=5&ads=a&state=KY.

(NOTE: I attempted to contact the principal owner to better understand Larry’s services and capabilities. However, since my voice mail messages went unanswered, all of the information provided below was based upon a review of their website.)

Their website doesn’t mention anything about packing and/or unpacking services. The website references Brooks Mini Storage, which has the same address as Larry’s. Brooks Mini Storage offers non-climate controlled storage units ranging from 5’x8’ at $40/mo to 10’x20’ at $100/mo. It’s unclear if these prices are current. Brooks Mini Storage also can accommodate cars, boats and RV’s. Larry’s has six trucks, according to the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Association website.

Larry’s Moving & Storage’s System: Given that Larry’s is currently only licensed to conduct local, within state moves, it’s very likely only one client’s goods would be loaded on a truck. Based upon a review of their website, Larry’s works very hard to de-stress the entire moving experience and treats their clients and employees as if they were family. (The writer has employed Larry’s on at least three occasions and was completely satisfied with their work.)

Insurance Options: The standard $.60 per pound per item will be offered. Beyond that minimum, there are very likely to be other options, but this isn’t addressed on their website.

So What Does It Cost? Their website states that the standard fee is $97 per hour for 3 men and a truck, with a minimum labor charge of one hour and one hour of driving time. To obtain a free quote, just visit their website. They also offer a flat fee option, which is dependent upon your list of the items to be moved, along with the distance involved and the number of men. Their website includes a detailed inventory list, which must be completed and submitted to them, to obtain such a quote. http://larrysmovers.com/Request_an_Estimate.html   The website gives no information on the cost of a 4th or 5th man.

Cancellation/Reschedule Policy:

There is also no information on required deposits, if any, cancellation fees, or moves needing to be rescheduled.

Customer feedback & reviews:

There are no reviews of Larry’s Moving on Measuredup.com. There are a few testimonials on their website and none are recent. If you have employed Larry’s Moving & Storage in any capacity, please provide your feedback.
