Moving Company Reviews: Two Men And A Truck Louisville, KY

Smaller home in London, Ontario.

Their Capabilities: Two Men And A Truck (“Two Men”), according to their website, is the nation’s largest local, franchised moving company. “Two Men” is a full service moving and storage operation who is licensed and insured to handle both within state and out-of-state moves. They own seven trucks. Five trucks are 26 feet and the two others are 22 and 18 feet in length. As with others in their industry, they also offer packing and unpacking services and sell boxes and packaging supplies.

Should you need to temporarily store some or all of your furniture, they will recommend a partner company named Extra Space Storage, which has seven Louisville locations.

Their System: Based upon a review of their website, Two Men And A Truck employ only professional, trained, uniformed movers (no day laborers). They train their people in-house. They also live by their own standard of performance called the “Grandma Rule.” Simply stated, the “Grandma Rule” means “To treat everyone the way you would want your Grandma treated.”  Two Men only make “direct” moves in which only a single customer’s goods are packed on a truck. Many of the larger moving companies seek to fill each truck to the maximum, by loading one or more customer’s goods on the same truck. While this strategy maximizes the utilization of the mover’s vehicles, it will also likely result in a delay in the delivery of your furniture. Two Men also gives you a precise delivery date, rather than a delivery window of a few days. Since their truck(s) will be transporting only your goods, they can estimate a delivery date with confidence, assuming no unexpected weather events.

Insurance options: A minimal amount of insurance is provided without charge. More substantial, optional coverage is also available. (Please note that the standard free coverage is $.60 per pound per item.)

So What Does It Cost?  Two Men (502) 257-7017 will send one of their estimators to your home to compile an inventory of the items you wish to move. The cost of a intrastate move will be a minimum of 2 hours of labor time for two men. The hourly rate for two men varies according to the day(s) of the week. The rate for Monday through Thursday is $96/hr, while Friday and Saturday are $106/hr and Sunday is $115. If you require an additional man or two, simply add $35/hr to the aforementioned rates for each additional man. Interstate moves are priced according the weight and the distance involved.

Two Men accepts all major credit cards.

Cancellation/Reschedule Policy:

Two Men requires a deposit, the amount of which depends on the cost of the move. If the customer needs to cancel, the deposit is returned provided 48 hours notice is given to Two Men. Rescheduled moves result in no penalty, assuming the move is quickly rescheduled.

Training Requirements: Every franchisee, before opening their business, must attend a two week training session at the Two Men And A Truck headquarters in Lansing, Michigan. During this period the owners will learn all the latest techniques in loading trucks, packing furniture, training their employees, etc. The training occurs at their facility known as Stick Men University.
